Technical Assistance

Between 2006 and 2009, Pallais participated in targeted, responsive, and proactive technical assistance visits throughout Texas. Her work focused especially on bilingual classrooms, and on the needs of educators who work with Spanish-speaking students and English language learners (ELLs). The visits included classroom observations, interviews with school personnel, and debriefing sessions with teachers, interventionists, school, and district personnel. Topics included teachers’ strengths and weaknesses regarding instruction and classroom management, implementation successes, data gains on benchmark assessments, support needs for campus personnel, and clarifications on policy and the implementation of Reading First.
